Depression
Depression itself is not a diagnosis, but a symptom of many different mental illnesses such as Bipolar Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. Basically, its a feeling of sadness, unable to find joy. Those experiencing depression may feel tired or rundown. They may even feel unmotivated or like everything is extremely difficult. Depression can be brought upon by irregularities in our brain's chemistry. It can also be influenced by our environment or experiences. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been utilized to treat depression with good success. I have found many clients experience relief from depression when they were able to better manage other symptoms they are experiencing.
Sometimes depression may require medications to experience relief from it. We can work on situations or environmental factors in our life contribute to depression, but sometimes there may be a serious enough chemical imbalance in our brain requiring medication. If you are in need of this, you will be referred to a prescriber to help you decide if medication is the right choice for you, and if so, which one will be best for you.
