Caregiver fatigue
Caregiving takes on many forms. I have worked with many family members who are in the role of caregiver for parents or loved ones nearing end of life. Caregiving alone is a difficult job. It can be overwhelming and sometimes and end is not in site for you. It physically demanding and draining; Professional caregivers are one of the careers with the highest amount of burnout and back injuries. Professional caregivers often work long hours with high caseloads due to a high industry turnover and insufficient providers. Now imagine this coupled with the fact that your client is now a parent, child, sibling, or other loved one. Many caregivers find themselves in overwhelming situations; finances, family, childcare, jobs, social life, relationships, marriages are all effected by this task on one level or another.
